To do so, you need to distinguish between <strong>two measurements<\/strong>:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apparent power, which is the maximum current load your wiring can carry, expressed in kilovolt-amperes (kVA)<\/li>\n<li>Active power, which is that of your home appliances, expressed in kilowatts (kW)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To avoid power outages, <strong>the combined active power of all your electrical appliances must be less than or equal to the apparent power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In Belgium, home electrical wiring is generally connected to a 40-ampere (40A) meter, which is equivalent to +\/- 9.2 kVA.
