Electrical installation and compliance

Azélec is a general electrical contractor based in Brussels that specialises in the installation, renovation and compliance of electrical installations. All our installations are carried out in accordance with good engineering practices and are compliant with the ‘Règlement général sur les installations électriques’ (RGIE, ‘General Regulations for Electrical Installations’).

Upon completion of the works and once all circuits have been wired, our specialist technicians prepare electrical plans, consisting of the layout diagram and single-wire diagram of the electrical installation. We subsequently contact a certified inspection body to send an inspector on site to inspect the new installation, after which they write a report certifying the installation is compliant. This report is then submitted to your electricity supplier once the building is connected to your supplier’s power network.

Electrical compliance

Make sure your electrical installation is safe!

A defective electrical installation may cause electrocution and pose a fire risk, which is why it must comply with the RGIE and undergo regular inspections by a certified inspection body.

The first compliance inspection is carried out right after installation before it is connected to the network.   The installation is subsequently to be inspected again every 25 years if no changes have been made and the installed passed the inspection.

In case of major changes, such as an extension or modification of the existing electrical installation or an increase in the electricity meter’s rating, a new inspection needs to be conducted in order to prove that these changes are compliant.

When purchasing an existing building, the notary will provide you with the electrical installation inspection report on the day you sign the title deed. If the report states that the installation is not RGIE-compliant, you have 18 months to have the necessary work carried out and inspected by a certified inspection body.

Azélec is available to perform the work required on the electrical installation of your home or building to ensure that it complies with RGIE standards.
